I usually try using the good ol' sandwich method... positive, negative, positive, regardless of winning or losing.
Yet there are times in which it's hard to find two positives and I'd rather not stretch out some BS, so if that's the case it's usually an open faced upsidedown sandwich two negatives and a good, while keeping it short and getting them back out to warmup.
They were on the court, they can read the scoreboard, they know what's going on, why bury them even more.
I probably have, not in those exact terms, but I will make note of it for this season and give it a try....though hopefully not because that means we are winning 😉
One thing I try to encourage is a player lead program. So having them, at halftime, before the coaching staff comes in, is take ownership for the first half. We have a markerbaord in the locker room and it is divided into 3 good and 3 "need improvement" areas for the second half. Lets me come in and now I as the coach have to take a second to read it before speaking. It gives me an idea of where the players are at and then maybe I don't have to overload with information for a big second half turnaround.

Have you tried the method I suggest?
You are right about not needing to bury them more, and yet look what happened to my son!

Ha! Yes, but win or lose, a consistent approach is beneficial for all.
