I agree, so many coaches get that ‘bit of paper’ and then think they know it all! It’s like passing your driving test - you only really start to learn once you’re out on the road. I always say that being a good coach is like walking up the down escalator - stand still and you’re actually going backwards!
I also agree that you can pick up really useful tips and ideas simply by talking to other coaches, not only in your own sport (in my case field hockey), but just as importantly from other sports
